This week, Mingalar Premium Cinemas will be screening a fresh lineup of new local and international films from January 30, 2026 to February 5, 2026.

Two new Myanmar films — “Paitein Than” (Echo) and “Phyit Chin Oo Hael Ahl May” — are making their theatrical debut, while two new international releases — “Mercy” and “Mardaani 3” — are also joining the lineup. Highlights of This Week’s New Myanmar Releases

Paitein Than

“Paitein Than” is a powerful drama inspired by the lasting impact of Cyclone Nargis, which struck the Ayeyarwady Region years ago. More than just a natural disaster, the storm became a turning point that changed countless lives.

Set in a small village near Labutta, the story explores what happened to the survivors nearly 18 years after the tragedy, focusing on the life journey of the character Daw Ma Sanda.

The film features leading performances by Aye Chan Maung, Min Oo, Teza Lin Yaung, May My Ko Ko, Myo Thandar Htun, along with many supporting cast members. The screenplay is adapted from Daw Ma Sanda’s novel by Lwin Min Aung, and directed by Kaung Zan.

Phyit Chin Oo Hael Ahl May

In contrast, “Phyit Chin Oo Hael Ahl May” is a light-hearted comedy filled with fun and laughter — perfect for audiences looking for an uplifting movie experience.

The film stars Hlwan Paing, Htoo Aung Lwin, Zaw Shine Htet, Vitamin, Joker, Soe Myat Thu Zar, Thae Su Nyein, May Mi Lin, along with a large supporting cast. The story and screenplay are written by Swan Paing and Shun Mi Mi Htet, and the film is co-directed by Kyi Thar and Swan Paing.

New International Releases

Mardaani 3

Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji returns with the third installment of the popular franchise “Mardaani 3,” opening on January 30.

Following the success of Mardaani and Mardaani 2, this new chapter promises an even more intense and suspenseful storyline, delivering another gripping thriller experience for Bollywood fans.

Mercy

“Mercy” is a sci-fi thriller starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. Set in the future, the film explores a world shaped by advanced AI technology, raising thought-provoking questions about how humanity may be judged under such systems.
